Market Review

The HSI fluctuated within a narrow 160-point range to end at 21,093.82 while HSCEI fell to 11,942.2 points. Shares of index heavyweight HSBC(5.HK) fell 0.4 % to HK$80.55. Shares of ASM Pacific (522 HK)  jumped 10.4 % to HK$71.55, its biggest rise in over a year, after the manufacturer of machines for micro-chip assembly and packaging reported second-quarter earnings that easily beat market expectations. HuiRenminbi Juice(1886 HK) rose 7.6 % to HK$5.83 after French food company Danone said it would sell its 23 % stake to Hong Kong-based private equity group SAIF Partners for about HK$6 a share.
